The Occupation Series

Crime thriller series set in Occupied Paris

Living under the shadow cast by his experiences in World War One, Eddie Giral is a Paris police detective forced to come to terms with the Nazi Occupation of the city.

Negotiating a path between resistance and collaboration, occupier and occupied, Eddie possibly faces his greatest challenge in overcoming his own inner struggle in asking what justice is when the ruling order holds alien values. The trouble is that the notion of justice itself becomes as dangerous, blurred and confused as the times.

And Eddie’s morality, ever on unreliable foundations, will be questioned again and again as the ravages of Occupation steadily grind both him and the city down.

"A thoughtful, haunting thriller."
Mick Herron
"Such a powerful and morally nuanced crime novel."
Andrew Taylor
"Historical crime at its finest."
Vaseem Khan
"Lloyd's Second World War Paris is rougher than Alan Furst's, and Eddie Giral, his French detective, is way edgier than Philip Kerr's Bernie Gunther. Powerful Stuff."
