THE CATALAN TRILOGY

Policing in Catalonia has been devolved to the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police, essentially a new service seeking to break from a system that was seen as a hangover from the past.

Irreverent and sharp-witted, Elisenda Domènech is the head of an experimental Serious Crime Unit set up by the Mossos in the beautiful city of Girona. Her job is to take on the worst of the city while also tackling conceptions, tradition and prejudice, sometimes from closer to home than she’d wish.

 In this trilogy, the half-walled medieval city of Girona shares centre-stage with Elisenda, its wealth of history and traditions providing an elegant and evocative backdrop to her investigations.
